Dave Soldier is an American musician and neuroscientist with formidable bodies of work in both fields. As a musician, Soldier has conceived and composed a wide variety of projects including the punk rock-country fusion group Kropotkins, the chamber-punk Soldier String Quartet, classical, chamber music, opera and recordings of animals playing specially-designed instruments. He has also worked with a slew of popular and experimental artists such as Bo Diddley, John Cale, David Byrne, and Guided By Voices, as well as many prominent jazz musicians. As a neuroscientist, his lab has been responsible for groundbreaking research of neurotransmission, drug addiction and Parkinson’s Disease. I had a constant cold for over a year, sad, lacking in energy, and hardly felt any joy. My general practitioner referred me to a specialist with the indication of fatigue syndrome and possibly depression and wrote me sick. In addition to therapy, I was prescribed Clonazepam, 50 mg a day. I take tablets wherever possible.
