ABOUT THE ALBUM
Needlejuice Records celebrates the 20th anniversary of Marc With a C's breakthrough 2006 album Life's So Hard with expanded editions on colored vinyl, CD, and, for the first time, cassette! Long out of print, the album returns in September 2026, newly remastered by Marc while preserving the warmth and character of its beloved lo-fi sound.
Many of the album's songs were shaped in front of audiences at Orlando's legendary Stardust Video & Coffee before being distilled from a much larger body of material into an 11-song album. In the process, Life's So Hard became a turning point in Marc's songwriting, when personal lyrics began obviously and audibly sharing space with songs written from the perspectives of narcissists, voyeurs, abusive parents, and even Gunnery Sergeant Hartman from Full Metal Jacket, establishing the mix of autobiography, empathy, satire, and character-driven storytelling that would define much of Marc With a C's early work.
The title track has also taken on new meaning over the years. Originally inspired by the internet culture of the mid-2000s, "Life's So Hard" has grown into a broader reflection on identity, performance, and the ways people seek validation, not to mention being fun to sing along with.
The anniversary edition expands the album across every format. Vinyl grows from 11 to 14 tracks with the addition of fan favorites "If I Had a Dealer" and the preferred version of "Laura, I Need Medicine." The CD and cassette editions expand to 22 tracks, featuring additional material from the era.
