ABOUT THE ALBUM

In 2010, Nuclear Bubble Wrap entered their college years, where they had newfound access to a professional recording studio, after having recorded their Weird Al-wannabe music in Jace's bedroom for their earliest releases. The resulting album was an immature but decently produced attempt at a comedy music album that wanted its listeners to take the band's musicianship as seriously as the jokes. It's very much of its time, channeling indie comedy music sensations like Lemon Demon and Jonathan Coulton and 2000s era internet humor. The album really attempted to be something the band believed the internet would like. Songs like "Sharktopus" and "Avada Kedavra" put NBW on the map in the era of late 2000s Newgrounds music videos, while the song "Raichu a Song" topped the charts of The Dr. Demento Show in 2010. Exploding Head Syndrome is edgy and immature, and hasn't aged very well in a few spots, but it has a unique place in Nuclear Bubble Wrap's discography and set the stage for the band's journey into more complex musical ideas.

Over a decade later, the album has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity through the growing popularity of the song "Lesbian," and thus, the hopes that the internet would like the album ended up coming true.
